감기약은 OTC (Over The Counter) drug라고 해서 의사의 처방없이도 살 수 있는 것이 많이 있다.
이런 감기약은 종류가 많고 이름도 다양해서 어떤 약을 선택해야 할 지 한참을 망설이기도 한다.
하지만 사용되는 유효성분은 몇가지 안돼서 성분을 들여다 보면 오히려 쉽게 고를 수 있다.
예를 들면 TheraFlu® Cold & Cough Night Time Hot Liquid Regular Strength 와 Alka-Seltzer Plus® Cold & Cough Medicine Liqui-Gels 의 이름은 아주 다르지만 들어가 있는 성분은 같다. 즉 약효는 별다른 차이가 없으니 어느 것을 사야 할 지 오래 고민할 필요가 없다.

두통이 있는데 먹던 Advil®이 마침 다 떨어졌다. 사러 가야 될까? 머리도 아픈데 나가기 전에 약장에 혹시 아이들이 먹던 Motrin®이 있다면 이걸 복용해도 된다. 두가지 모두 같은 유효 성분을 가지고 있다.

열도 나고 감기 기운도 있어 Tylenol을 먹고 TheraFlu® Cold & Cough Night Time Hot Liquid Regular Strength 도 먹어도 될까? 두가지 모두 해열제 성분인 acetaminophen이 들어있어 과다 복용할 위험이 있으니 삼가는 게 좋다.

• 진통제 (analegic drug)/해열제 (antipyretic drug)

Aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen 이 가장 많이 쓰인다.
Aspirin은 이 Aspirin®에 들어있고 acetaminophen 은 Tylenol®, ibuprofen은 Advil®이나 Motrin®에 들어있다.

• 기침을 할 때

Dextromethorphan이 쓰인다. Delsym®, Robitussin® 등이 대표적이다.

• 코가 막혔을 때

Pseudoephedrine 이 많이 쓰이고 Sudafed®가 대표적이다.

• 콧물이 날 때/재채기

Diphenhydramine, Chlorpheniramine 등이 쓰인다.

One caveat is the PC you want to run MojoPac on needs to be run as Administrator privilege, which makes it impossible to run it on most public computers. But still it is useful if you often work on different sites and can access a computer there, then your travel suit will be much lighter.
